Maintenance
Permanent Part-time Position
The Ojibwe Cultural Foundation is a vibrant cultural space where Indigenous artists and community come together to engage in cultural activation and reflection. As a public facility the OCF works to ensure we provide a clean and safe environment for all our visitors. The Maintenance worker would be reliable, attentive, and detail-oriented individual. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and order of the building and grounds.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
- With 6 months to 1 year of experience maintaining a building. WHIMIS certification, Working At Heights
- Works well independently and has strong time management skills.
- Follows written and verbal instructions from Senior Management. Collaborates with co-workers as needed.
- Handles the physical demands of the job, including standing and walking for most of the shift, bending, climbing and lifting at least 50 pounds.
Responsibilities:
- Waste disposal – collect from offices, exterior grounds and schedule weekly drop off at local waste facilities.
- Maintenance - minor repairs as needed.
- General cleaning – sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and polishing surfaces.
- Restroom Maintenance – cleaning, sanitizing, restocking supplies – toilet tissue, soap and paper towels.
- Exterior Maintenance – Leaf and snow removal as needed, minor repairs.
- Restocking Supplies – cleaners and other items as needed.
- Security – ensure building is secure closing windows and doors, set the alarm, inspect grounds.
- Safety and Issues – follow safety procedures, notify Senior Management of any major maintenance or safety issues.
- Equipment Maintenance – cleaning equipment and ensure in good working order. Follow safety procedures, adhere to company policy and procedures.
- Meet and greet the public in a polite and welcoming manner.
- Administrative duties – sign in and out, verify timesheet, notify management for supplies needed.
Work Hours and Benefits:
- Part-time hours up to 20 hours every two weeks morning shifts. Plus, seasonal maintenance additional hours.
- Accumulated sick leave. Vacation Pay 4%
